Course Overview

This HSE approved course provides the knowledge and practical skills needed to deal with first aid emergencies. It will equip your nominated first aider with the confidence and competence to fulfil their duties. As an employer, you can be sure that you are meeting your legal requirement to provide quality first aid training.

Aimed at

The training course is recommended for all industry sectors where a nominated first aider is required.


Assessment will take the form of continuous observation and written assessments. Delegates need a basic command of English (defined as Level 2). Please contact us in advance if you will require specific support to complete the written assessments, e.g. if English is your second language.


Successful candidates receive a certificate that is valid for 3 years. All successful candidates get their first annual refresher training free.

  • The role of the first aider
  • Head injuries
  • Managing an emergency
  • Health and safety (first aid) regulations
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Low blood sugar
  • Asthma
  • Poisoning
  • Bleeding (minor and severe)
  • Resuscitation (adult CPR)
  • Bone, muscle and joint injuries
  • Seizures (adult)
  • Burns and scalds
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Chest pains (including heart attack)
  • Shock
  • Choking (adult)
  • Spinal injuries
  • Eye injuries
  • Stroke
  • Fainting/Unresponsive casualty
